Our full tour and review is on this 2022 Land Rover Defender 110 X-Dynamic SE. Introduced in 2020, the Defender is the second generation of Land Rover's historic off-road SUV, although this generation shares only the name from the previous Land Rover 90/110 Series, and Defender vehicles. We go over the technical specifications of this luxury off-roader, how the 90 and 110s differ in size, and how they compare to the previous generation. Our X-Dynamic SE is the mid-trim sold here in Canada, with many on-road comforts buyers will appreciate along with off-road capabilities to take on anything you throw at the Defender.

We discuss this 3.0L in-line 6 Mild-Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) engine, one of several options available here in Canada, as we only get petrol/gas versions. This vehicle produces 395 horsepower, 406 lb-ft of torque, and uses a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission with full-time 4WD. A Plug-in Hybrid and V8 is available depending on trim. We go over the design and looks of this Defender and some of the unique design traits found on this SUV. Things like the squared, boxy design, or the unique machine-line exterior lighting. Our vehicle is finished in Tasman Blue with the black leather interior.

We jump on the inside to go over the long list of features and tech found on the 2022 Land Rover Defender 110. We have full leather seating, trim finished in Robustec for ultra-high wear & tear protection, rubberized floors and floor mats, heated and ventilated front seats with 14-way adjustment and 3 memory settings, heated outboard rear seats, a Meridian audio system, panoramic sunroof with dual skylights, LED interior lighting, wireless phone charging, and a safe-exit alert on all 4 doors. Seat comfort is excellent, along with good seating positions and space overall. Interior road noise is minimal thanks to the many soft-touch materials found throughout, along with the overall noise control on the vehicle.

The 10" Pivi Pro infotainment system uses a Snapdragon processor, a 1920x720 pixel touch screen, and a suite of unique technology. Land Rover's ClearSight Ground View allows drivers to see directly under the front hood of the vehicle in off-road mode, along with under the vehicle during slow-moving parking. The infotainment system uses the 6 on-board cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and 4 radar sensors to map a 3D image around the vehicle for extra safety. The ClearSight Rear View monitor acts as a digital rearview mirror, with a camera mounted on the roof's shark fin antenna for better visibility from behind. The driver also has a fully digital gauge cluster with customizable information and UI.

We take the 2022 Land Rover Defender 110 on a comprehensive real world road test to talk about the fuel economy we recorded on our test loop, along with our overall opinions about this SUV when driving it on the road. Things like the engine performance, drive, ride, and handling, along with how the SUV is to live with on a daily basis. By spending a week with this SUV we got a good idea of what life would be like if you bought one. We perform a quick 0-100km launch test, and talk about the different off-road modes available via the Terrain Response 2 system.
