About the video:

It's been 10 years. In 2009, the only anime I had watched at the time was the likes of Cardcaptor Sakura, Doraemon, Crayon Shin-chan, Cyborg Kuro-chan, Hunter x Hunter, Detective Conan, and some more.

I wasn't very familiar with Japanese music at the time. Not long after that in 2010, I discovered Marasy, Animenz, Joshagarrado, Tetzer, and gon1choko1. These people were the ones who inspire me to do my own piano cover videos, and the channel evolves to the way it is now thanks to them... but it hasn't always been that way.

Before that, I was a die-hard Queen fan (and still am to this day!), and their songs were the first ones that made me realise how great music can be. My first YouTube video is my attempt at covering one of their songs from 1976 titled "Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy". Thats exactly 20 years before I was born.

Queen songs in the 1970s were famous for their massive overdubs, a mixing technique to make vocals and choirs sound rich by singing and layering a phrase over and over again. I couldn't do anything near that back in 2009, heck, I don't even edit my videos. But I can try that now, can I? ;)

The choir has always intrigued me, they sound so grand and massive that I didn't even know if I can pull this off. One of my ways of appreciating music is to recreate it. That way, I'm able to know every single piece that made the song work, and often times wonder "how did the composer even come up with such the idea?"
Freddie Mercury was an undoubtedly musical genius, able to create masterpieces such as "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Somebody to Love", but this song is way too underrated for what it is. It might be due to the controversial lyrics and overall theme of the song, but it is a very good and a very catchy song.

I thought it might be interesting to make a 10 year challenge of my very first video. There aren't that many channels that can make a YouTube 10 Year Challenge right now.

I can't say that I can sing, but I do have relative pitch (or maybe absolute pitch? Honestly, idk.) which really comes in handy on projects like this.

I've been actively covering anime music since 2015 and has been exclusively making musical contents since 2017, but before that, this channel has seen lots of other contents. I'm focusing on anime music and will always center around anime music from now on, but my love for Queen hasn't changed.
