Creating a Wild Woodland Hibernaculum | Amphibian and Moss Facts

Hello! My name is Beth and I help run the wildlife and rewilding gardening company Magpie Gardening. In todays video, I visit a local marshy woodland and construct a hibernaculum to encourage amphibians to visit our local area. I show you how I built the structure, and also dive into the different native species of amphibians we have in the UK, as well as talk briefly about my favourite local mosses.

I am an amateur Herpetologist, and my partner Alex (our head gardener) is an ex-archaeobotanist. Two years ago we moved back to Norfolk, England and decided to start an enterprise to re-wild our British Gardens. From that, I have been able to dive into learning about British Herpetology, drawing on my knowledge of keeping captive-bred exotic frogs and snakes.

Alex now works full time re-wilding gardens, creating ecosystems that provide much needed refuges from the modern world.
