poison ivy relief my poison ivy rash was severe, learn from my mistakes in the identification of poison ivy, symptoms of the rash and treatment. Treating poison ivy can take time. Having the knowledge of poison ivy identification is the biggest prevention.

Oh boy did I get Poison Ivy. I had it on my head, nose, neck, tummy, legs, ankles, hands but the worst of it all was on my wrists and forearms.

If you know you were exposed to poison ivy wash the area right away with soap that helps cut oil (dish soap) also set aside your clothes and tools or anything else that may have come into contact with it.

There is no easy fast acting remedy that I found for poison ivy like this. Time was the biggest factor here it took about a week or so for the worst of the rash to develop on my skin and about 4 to 6 weeks for almost all of it to be gone.

The remedies that worked the best for me are cleaning the area and keeping it clean. Applying Neosporin with pain relief. Taking byndroyl. I was also given a sample of poison ivy steroid cream. If you had poison ivy like me do yourself a favor and go to the doctor to be on the safe side. I itched and scratched and popped blisters for a long time I could not help myself. It drove me nuts.

I must clarify I now know I got poison ivy when I cut down some pine trees. The huge vines on the trees that I thought were just vines were in reality some very old poison ivy. The sap was just pouring out of the vines like crazy (good thing I did not get stupid and drink from the vines) could you image. I was also glad we did not burn the vines to "clean" them up I would not want a poison ivy rash in my lungs.

In the end my poison ivy rash cleared up and even with all the itching, scratching and popped blisters I have no scares.

Take care in washing whatever you were wearing or working with when you were exposed to poison ivy. I came into contact with poison ivy again when cleaning my chain saw, boots and a few other things. I even wore rubber gloves and washed my hands and arms like crazy but still got poison ivy again. It was not like the first time and was over very fast but I have gotten it about 3 times again when cleaning the tools I was working with.
