Truth about Russian (electric file) manicure | How dangerous is it?

Couple months ago my student sent me an article and link to discussion board about Russian manicure. Recently a new article by Doug Schoon came up in Nails Magazine.
There are different points of view. Some nail techs are 'against' this technique and describe it as dangerous and risky.
I have my own thoughts on this topic as I have been using so-called Russian manicure technique for 13 years already.
I also would like to read your thoughts.
Let me know what do you think about Russian manicure and if rumours about it are exaggerated?
