One of Europe’s Most Wanted was reaching for a shopping cart but it was him being bagged, not his groceries. Undercover cops swarmed Erick de Ventura Pacheco in a supermarket, finally arresting a man on the run since 2014. Let me tell you about it.

The Mob Reporter here with news of an arrest that marks the end of an era for Casper’s band of elite continental criminals, the old-school kind: swashbuckling pros, like we see in movies, pulling outrageous bank heists, crafty art thefts, and dazzling robberies that seize the public’s imagination in their native Spain.
Casper was considered a criminal mastermind. His real name was Ángel Suárez Flores. Together with another masterful thief, Juan Manuel Candela Sapieha, known as El Sapo, and others, Casper grabbed headlines for years for his antics. Including, police allege, Ventura Pacheco, nicknamed “Peru.” This is a wild ride into a rich, colorful underworld that barely still exists.
