SPW On RFD-TV: North Carolina SweetPotatoes Gets A New A New Chief

Are sweetpotatoes on your holiday menu? Then there's someone you want to meet. North Carolina grows more than half of the U.S. sweetpotato crop. Now the state has a new leader directing those efforts.
Michelle Grainger recently became Executive Director of the North Carolina SweetPotato Commission after two decades of management experience, most recently leading NC State University’s Executive Farm Management Program. Last December she even presented a prestigious TEDx talk at the TEDxCaryWomen event, one of the few ag presentations to ever make that stage.
We caught up for this interview for our broadcast partner The RFD-TV Network.
North Carolina has led the nation in sweet potato production since 1971, though U.S. acreage has increased from 95,000 acres just 20 years ago to about 170,000 today.
