How to Rename Timeline Tracks on Davinci Resolve [NEW]

In this tutorial, we demonstrate the updated 2026 workflow for renaming your timeline tracks in DaVinci Resolve to help keep your complex projects organized and easy to navigate. To rename a track, navigate to the track header area on the left side of the timeline and simply double-click on the existing generic label, such as "Video 1" or "Audio 1." Once the text becomes highlighted, type in your desired name—such as "B-Roll," "Main Dialogue," or "Sound Effects"—and press Enter to save the change. We also show how to right-click on the track header and select "Rename" from the context menu as an alternative method, which is particularly useful when managing multiple stacked layers in the Fairlight or Edit pages. By taking a moment to clearly label your tracks, you can significantly improve your editing efficiency and ensure a smoother collaboration process when moving through different stages of post-production in DaVinci Resolve 2026.
