Johannesburg, South Africa, 1974. A teacher asks two schoolboys to tell each other a story. They become rivals. Two decades later, they meet by chance in New York as an Oscar®-nominated filmmaker and a psychiatrist set out to transform themselves and their relationship through their real life storytelling. Paul Browde, M.D. and Murray Nossel Ph.D combined their storytelling performance, Two Men Talking, with work Murray did for dying AIDS patients to create Narativ: a laboratory for researching, developing and teaching a universal listening and storytelling method. Narativ aims to use the method for evolving the way people communicate.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
