Czech VZ58 vs IWI Galil ACE

The IWI Galil Ace and Czech VZ58 are two great machines to dispense some 7.62x39. Other than being chambered in the same caliber they could not be more different.

The VZ58 was brought onto the scene in 1958 by Czechoslovakia to be a competitor to the AK variants available. The VZ58 has a milled receiver that accepts "rock and lock" proprietary magazines. When empty the Vz58 has a "last round hold open" bolt catch that gives this gun an edge over AK style rifles.

The IWI Galil ACE is an improved version of the original Galil produced by IMI in the 1960's. The Galil falls into the AK family style of guns but has some improvements over its AK-47 cousins. Due to the availability of aftermarket parts and mags, the Galil becomes an easy choice for most shooters.
