The fastest way to make your song sound more professional is to just dial in your vocals.

Don’t hide them in a pile of reverb and delay. Your vocals sit at the front of everything so when they’re clean, tuned, and sitting right, the whole song just lifts in perceived quality. I hear of lot of artist’s delays or reverb competing with the lead instead of enhancing it. Make sure your harmonies aren’t cluttering the frequencies, and your instrumentals are carved out with space for the vocal to sit.

That’s where the sing alongs come from. That’s what makes someone feel like they can hear every word perfectly and they just have to match your melody. You don’t need to overcomplicate it. Get the vocals right and build everything else around them.
