Spix Macaw on brink of extinction

The Spix Macaw, native to Brazil, is one of the world's most endangered species, but it may well be on its way back from the brink of extinction.

At the Al Wabra Wildlife Preservation Reserve in Qatar, conservationists have been able to help save this species, which was last seen in the wild 11 years ago.

There are a total of 86 captive Spix Macaws in the world, and 55 of them live at Al Wabra.
