Edward Said (November 1, 1935 - September 25, 2003) delivering the concluding lecture of an Orientalism conference . He was Columbia University Professor of English and Comparative Literature, literary theorist, cultural critic, advocate for Palestinian rights, and a founding figure in postcolonialism.
