This is one of the most interesting, safe, and productive ESL games for your ESL classes. You can use it on graduating days, regular classes, demo classes, ECAs, special days, and open classes.
You can buy the parachute umbrella online or just get a common blanket-type cloth item. and you can use it for many other games too.
HOW TO PLAY?
Place the parachute umbrella on the chairs, and make it an igloo or tent (whatever you call it). Place targeted flashcards inside it.
The teacher calls out a name and starts counting. That student will get inside, and get any flashcards, The parents or teacher then ask " What do you have? and he has to answer accordingly.
At the end of the lesson let the teacher pretend to sleep inside for FUN only.

OTHER VARIATIONS
I can write hundreds of variations to this game, let me mention a few of them. Read and utilize in your class. If you still don't understand it, tag me and ask me on the WeChat Group.

GAME # 1 -
The teacher calls out a name, that kid gets inside and gets any flashcards, and the parents ask a question ( for regular classes other students ask a question and he answers accordingly.

GAME # 2 -
The teacher calls out a word and that student gets inside and gets that targeted card.

GAME # 3 -
The teacher calls out words and 2 students compete in pairs to get that card or toy ( whatever is inside).

GAME # 4 -
Get inside as many students as possible, let's say 5 students so 5 flashcards. they get one card each and stay quiet. The teacher then calls out a word let's say " car" whoever holding a car flashcard, will come out, now call out another word " truck" and so on until one student remains, that the last student is the winner.

GAME # 5 -
Good idea for letters;
place the letters (abcd) flashcards outside of the tent while the related words (apple, ball, cat, dog, etc.) cards are inside the tent. The teacher says a letter like the letter "d" or produces the sound of the letter d "/d/ " 2 or more kids compete, to get the words to begin with that letter, let's say " dog".

GAME # 6 -
Numbers: Place number flashcards inside the tent. Let's say Teacher Muxi says " 5+5 =? And 2 students compete in pairs to get the number 10 flashcard and say it. It's number 10 or 5+5 = 10.

GAME # 7 -
Shapes: Place shapes cards inside. The teacher draws a shape on the board or shows pictures ( like apple = circle . Christmas tree = triangle, train = rectangle .. etc ) and gets the need to get a related shape card from the tent and say it.

GAME # 8 -
If you teach clothes. Have a few kids get inside the tent. The teacher then calls out " if you are wearing blue shoes, come out" and whoever wearing blue shoes, needs to leave the tent. keep saying until the last remains. That one is the winner.

GAME # 9 -
Teacher Muxi covers his eyes, and the local teacher helps one student quietly get inside the tent. the teacher then tries to guess who he/she is by saying the clothes item colors like ' Is she wearing a blue jacket? other students No she is not. keep saying... Is she wearing pink shoes/sweater/ shirt, skirt, etc until you guess or do you get only 3 chances if unable to guess then you lose?

GAME # 10 -
This parachute has different colors. have a few students sit inside the tent under the specific color (the local teacher helps them so Teacher Muxi wouldn't see). Now Teacher Muxi says " whoever is sitting under the blue color, come out. Then whoever is sitting under the red color, comes out. continues until one student remains. that is the winner.

Note That you can incorporate the ideas according to the content you are teaching/lesson objectives/students' level/number of kids etc.
