Woolworths reports 5.3 per cent sales increase for first quarter
Woolworths released its quarterly sales results this morning with sales jumping 5.3 per cent higher year on year to $17.2 billion.
Woolworths has reported deflation in their fruit, vegetables and meat categories.
Prices in those categories are starting to decrease which is a positive sign for Australian shoppers.
Overall average prices had increased by two per cent in the quarter which is a lower increase compared to previous quarters.
Coles is expected to release their quarterly sales results in the coming days.
