I’m truly excited to have you all in this class and hope you’ll find this journey into Artificial Intelligence as fascinating as I do. This semester, we will explore a wide range of topics, from basic to advanced concepts in AI. We’ll cover problem-solving techniques like search algorithms and adversarial search, delve into knowledge representation, logics, and Bayesian networks, and explore various machine learning methods, including supervised and unsupervised learning. Additionally, we’ll dive deep into neural networks and advanced topics in deep learning.

This class is cross-listed with CSC 446 Artificial Intelligence and CSC 546 Advanced Artificial Intelligence (in-person and online). This means that while we will be exploring advanced topics, we’ll also ensure that foundational AI concepts are well-covered, allowing all students, regardless of their starting point, to engage fully with the material. Whether you are taking the basic or advanced course, you’ll build a strong understanding of AI.

I’m looking forward to getting to know each of you and hope we can create a learning environment that’s both challenging and supportive. Let’s make this semester a great one!

Please note that, exceptionally, the first two classes on August 28th and September 4th will be online for everyone. I will share the Zoom link for our first class with you. Starting September 9th, we will meet in person from 2:30 to 4:10 PM at MSB 119 as scheduled.
