Katharine Birbalsingh is the founder of, and headmistress at, Michaela Community School in London, which recently achieved some of the best GCSE results in the country. She's also a very well known commentator and educationalist. She is currently featuring in the ITV documentary 'Britain's strictest headmistress'.

I spoke to her about why she believes progressive orthodoxies need to be challenged in education, what it's like to be a conservative teacher, whether teachers should return to work during the Coronavirus lockdown, and much more.

Katharine Birbalsingh was recently appointed as chair of the social mobility commission.
