Entering the Gulf of Alaska - Sailing from Juneau to Kodiak - Emerald Isle: Ep.7 Fishing Boat Refit
Continuing our journey home we come around Cape Spencer and enter the Gulf of Alaska. From here it's a nearly 500-nautical mile voyage to reach our home port of Kodiak.
We navigate along the shoreline northwest, past Yakutat, Icy Bay, then turn west Passing Kyak Island and crossing Hitchenbrook Entrance. We drive around the south side of Montague Island, sailing through Byling sound and Ressurection Bay before turning south towards the Barren Islands. Traveling through the night, we finally see Marmot Island in the distance after morning comes, we carry on through Marmot straight, into the home stretch across Marmot Bay.
In 2021, we ventured to Southeast Alaska to check out a new boat. After careful consideration, we decided that it was a great fit for us! Thus the F/V Emerald Isle became a part of our family! After we took possession we wasted no time getting started. You can watch our journey and progress in our chronological playlist!
