Northwest Folklife Festival kicks off at Seattle Center

On a bright, sunny Friday, the 55th annual Northwest Folklife Festival kicked off a weekend of song, dance, community, fashion and more at the Seattle Center. This year’s cultural focus, “Ubuntu” — meaning “I am because we are” — explores connection, shared humanity, and the ways our lives and stories intertwine. Our photojournalist Ivy Ceballo gave us a sneak peak into the festival, which runs through Memorial Day.
