DIY Popsicle Stick Tree-House Tutorial

This video shows how I built a small popsicle stick tree-house with a swing. I had an idea of making a popsicle stick house for my kids to play with but I wanted to make it a little bit more interesting so I decided to go for a tree-house instead.

I started by looking for things I could use around the house. I had some fire wood, plank cut-offs, popsicle sticks and plastic aquarium plants that I could use and then started to assemble it figuring it out as I went. I first attacked the tree to the base by drilling a whole and then screwing it on.

Next I created some attachment points for the house and platform bases by cutting off pieces of the tree to flatten it. I then created the bases for the platform and house which I attached using screws to the tree which would make these connections strong and secure.

For the platform I added wooden railings and for the tree-house I added walls with a doorway, windows and a removable roof. To round-off the windows and doorway I created little frames using popsicle sticks. I also added popsicle stick ladders that connected the base, platform and house.

I added a little swing below the tree-house for additional character and lastly added the plastic aquarium plants for foliage on the tree. I strengthened it by using more hot glue, screwing the platforms and leaves onto the tree and base and also using PVA wood glue for extra strength.

Although I started with the idea of making this tree-house for my kids to play with, I think the final design would also be perfect for a fairy gardens. My parents, being avid gardeners, asked me many times if they could have it for their fairy gardens but once my kids saw it they wouldn't let it go. They played with it for quite a ling time and is still one of their favorites.
