"I have been living this moment for more than 10 years," shared D Gukesh during the post-match conference, his voice filled with pride. "I'm living my dream."

The 18-year-old prodigy made history in Singapore, defeating defending champion Ding Liren 7.5-6.5 to win the 2024 FIDE World Chess Championship. This victory makes him the youngest world champion in chess history!

Gukesh also expressed his joy at bringing the title back to India, a feat last achieved by his mentor and inspiration, Viswanathan Anand, who won five world championships before losing to Magnus Carlsen in 2013.

"When Magnus won, I thought, I really want to be the one to bring back the title," Gukesh said, reflecting on his decade-long ambition. "This dream I had for 10 years. Doing it for me, my loved ones, and my country -there's nothing better."
