Patterning and Sewing Wizard Robes
*** It should go without saying at this point, but JK Rowling is a horrible awful person. I do not agree with her personal beliefs in any way. But the Harry Potter universe has always been a part of my life that I want to keep enjoying. I understand not everyone wants to separate the art from the author, so feel free to skip watch this video and I’m sorry if this triggered you in anyway ***
Hello I’m Sophie. Welcome to the beginning of my sewing journey, come along with me through all the mistakes and seam ripping! And hopefully feel some solidarity that there are others bumbling their way through this hobby.

In this video I will be making a Hogwarts Gryffindor robe just in time for Halloween. I have been Hermione for Halloween at least every other year, and she is just a character I have always loved and admired. Even though I’ve never had brown hair 😔.
For a long time I’ve wanted one of the expensive robes from Universal Studios so I can stop wearing a cheapo robe from when I was in 2nd grade. But since I’ve started sewing I realized I could just make sure one!!! Instead of buying a pattern I decided to make my own, since I thought a robe was a pretty simple garment.
*Disclaimer* I am very much an amateur seamstress and make many mistakes.
