POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE SPACE IN ART

In this video I explain the difference between negative and positive space in a painting and in art in general.
Negative space in a composition is of the utmost importance to find an optical balance between foreground and background.
I illustrate this concept on the basis of a painting by myself, Rembrandt van Rijn and Peter Paul Rubens.
