Are U a Guitar Player and Sucks When Writing Melodies? Learn From Great Singers like Freddie Mercury!
In this educational video, I talk about the importance of learning about melody from great singers. In the example of this video, I mention as a reference the great Freddie Mercury from Queen, who needs no introduction.
I play two versions of Queen's great classics, We are the Champions and Bohemian Rhapsody, whose melodies, harmonies, bass and rhythmic parts I learned only by ear, without consulting tablatures, sheet music or looking for any information about these songs on the Internet.
I propose as an exercise to learn
melodies and their characteristics of great singers exclusively by ear, try to reproduce them on your own instrument, in my case the electric guitar, and, above all, how to interpret them, that is, reproduce that singer's vibrato on the guitar, decide when to use bends or slides, understand the use of pauses and breaths in melodies. In other words, try to think like great vocalists and understand how they create incredible melodies.
It's important to get out of visual thinking about the guitar, that is, think outside the box, not think about geometric shapes of scales and arpeggios, patterns, and think about the sound.
I mention in the video that it is important for every guitarist to also learn melodies from wind instrument musicians.
