1st Big Boy Freight Train in 60 years

But to start the The Great Race Across the Midwest across 6 states on July 8, 2019 UP 4014 departed Cheyenne, WY pulling a light load of 21 covered hoppers. I encounter the elusive locomotive at the east end of the Cheyenne yard as she departs about noon eastbound. Leaving the UP yard under the Logan Ave. bridge. And end with the crossing at Egbert, WY. The Big Boy No. 4014 is headed back out on the Union Pacific system beginning July 8 for a tour, taking it through Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
