Dangerous Mountain Trails: Kendall Katwalk, Pacific Crest Trail, Snoqualmie Pass, Washington, USA
Taking a breather from uploading the summer vacations footage - here's the first #hikingadventure I undertook when returning to the USA's Pacific Northwest region.
The Kendall Katwalk hike is about a twelve mile round-trip stretch along the Pacific Crest Trail, with the trailhead at Snoqualmie Pass. It's a fairly modest elevation gain of 2600 feet along that span, so it's very do-able for all, but there are very steep droppoffs along sections of the trail, so be careful!
On the day I hiked, actually the first day of September, the Washington State weather was in full effect. Very cloudy and damp in the AM hours, but the reports indicated that would clear by the early afternoon - about the time I expected arrive at the Katwalk. How did those predictions work out for me? Take a watch of the video and find out!
If you are visiting Seattle, the Katwalk is likely less than an hour and a half from the city, but with the trailhead right off the I90 corridor, as long as you time the trip to avoid peak traffic hours, it's a pretty quick trip to the trailhead from just about anywhere in the Western portion of Washington State.
It's a bonus hiking portions of the PCT in Washington, as you get to chat with PCT thru-hikers, who always have stories to tell. One thru-hiker I came across had some great words about Washington.
The views from the Katwalk are impressinve and stunning, but
there are great shots from all along the trail. And the colors of Autumn have arrived!
Enjoy!
