The Roland Fantom G8 is the flagship model of the 2 Roland music workstations, namely the G6, and this l the Fantom G8. Whilst both models share many facets of the technology used in the creation of this series of music workstations, the G8 has a few extra tricks up its sleeve ....

Firstly it has a larger, (8.5" colour) more user friendly GUI (Graphic User Interface) - otherwise known as a screen to the likes of you and I. Other additional bells and whistles include a new sound engine, a new audio/MIDI sequencer with 128 MIDI tracks and 24 Audio tracks and the ability to route multiple effects to each sequencer part (up to 16 effects).

It also has a USB interface so that you can connect a mouse for a more practical way of clicking around the screen. The Fantom G8 can be expanded by the addition of up to 2 x ARX expansion boards and holds up to 256Mb of memory, it also accomodates external instruments by having on-board XLR Mic and quarter inch jack inputs for the audio track recording facility ...

You can load VST, AU and RTAS plug-ins for use with Cubase, Logic or Pro-Tools and the USB addition means that the data can be dumped to a PC or Mac. The outer casing of the unit has been designed with a more rugged and robust feel so it should easily withstand the rigours of the road ...
