Tour de France 2021 Stage 16 Highlights | Rain Soaked Pyrenean Test

A wet, rolling stage through the Pyrenees faced the depleted peloton after the second rest day. Would stage hunters like Patrick Konrad, Magnus Cort, and Omar Fraile be able to make the breakaway stick on a day that, on paper, suited them perfectly? Or would the GC contenders apply some pressure to Tadej Pogačar?. While it may not look quite as difficult as its Pyrenean predecessor, it’s the kind of stage where we could see a successful ambush sprung, particularly in the valley sections between the three main climbs - the Col de Port (11.4km at 5.1%), Col de la Core (13.1km at 6.6%) and Col de Portet-d’Aspet (5.4km at 7.1%).
