December 5, 2021: Prepare the Way to Make Room for... Peace by Rev. Matthew Fillier

Hot on the heels of last week’s “Look up, Notice, and Speak…Hope”, once again we hear the stuff of awkward conversations that don’t seem to have a lot to do with Christmas preparations, chestnuts roasting on an open fire, or travelling to be with friends and family. On the surface that is all true, yet a look a little closer and deeper at Luke 3:1-6 reveals a connection to something bigger and the question: what is John saying yes to? What are we being asked to say yes to? Are we willing to say yes to the One who comes asking that we not about whether we will go through the motions of the holidays, but whether we will prepare for the coming of Emmanuel in our lives through a changing of our minds concerning broken or wounded relationships by undertaking a radical changing of our minds, our hearts, and our spirit?
