I Bought a Dead GTX 1070 for €20… and Somehow Fixed It

Today I bought a GTX 1070 for just €20 because it looked completely dead. No fan spin, no detection on PC, and no obvious signs of life.

Since this was my first time ever working on a graphics card, I started with basic measurements and quickly found something strange: there was no 12V where it should have been. After a lot of testing, research, and voltage checks, I tracked the fault down to a blown fuse.

I bridged it for testing, powered the card back on, and the GPU suddenly came back to life. It got detected, passed a stress test, and the main fault was gone. The only remaining problem was the fans themselves, which also turned out to be bad.

Definitely one of the most frustrating and satisfying repairs I’ve done so far.
