In this week's Headline Buster, CGTN looks at how media are covering China's poverty alleviation efforts. China is on the home stretch of meeting its poverty alleviation target by the end of 2020. But many media are casting doubts. Some question China's true motivations, others its methods. Some are unconvinced China can sustain any meaningful progress, others say China will fudge the numbers regardless. Eradicating poverty is no small task, it's true. And given China has lifted some 850 million of its people out of poverty over the last seven decades, that's almost equivalent to the population of the U.S., times three, it's understandable that some media are skeptical. What are the key concerns? Are they justified? And how are China's poverty alleviation efforts linked to the global economy?
