Rapids, A Wrong Turn and Waterfalls - Kayak Camping Down An Old River

The end to our first Portage camping trip, but the beginning of something that now lights a fire within.

Al and I pack up camp at the lake and say goodbye to our new campsite. We make our way down the river, shooting rapids and rubbing rocks. We decide river left is our best option, but ends up being the wrong way and we have to double back. River right proves to be challenging as it got dark quickly, and we had to make our way around a good sized waterfall. In a bit of a panic, we have to blaze out a spot to sleep up on the riverbank for the night.
We hadn't made as much distance as we had planned, so the next morning was a quick pack up and we made our way back to the car after dodging more Rapids and waterfalls.
This was a great memory for us, and we have now moved on to canoe tripping because of it.
