Amanda Röntgen (née Maier): Zwiegespräche, No.9 [1883]
Amanda Röntgen (née Maier) (20 February 1853 - 15 July 1894), Swedish violinist and composer.
Zwiegespräche. Kleine Klavierstücke [Julius and Amanda Röntgen].
No.9 - Moderato [F minor, 3/4].
"Zwiegespräche" (Dialogues) is a set of 10 short piano pieces written jointly by Amanda Roentgen (nee Maier) (1853-1894) and her husband, composer and pianist Julius Roentgen (1855-1932). According to Julius Roentgen's diary, the manuscript was completed in October 1883. They did not sit down together and write each work in close collaboration, but they made an equal contribution, each writing 5 pieces of music, however, without indicating their authorship, and even Roentgen's parents could not guess which of them created what.
The "Dialogues" were published by Breitkopf & Härtel (Leipzig) in 1887: "Zwiegespräche. Kleine Klavierstücke. Julius and Amanda Röntgen", again without specifying which of them wrote which play. But, according to the surviving diary entries, it was possible to establish that Amanda was the composer of No. 1, 3, 4, 9 and 10. Julius wrote the rest.
