Spanda Karika Verse 20: Lost in the waves, forgetting the ocean | Find Yourself by ABK

Lost in the waves, forgetting the ocean.

The unawakened person becomes completely identified with the movements of the mind. A thought arises and he becomes the thought. Anger comes, and he says "I am angry." The wave forgets the ocean. The individual forgets the source. This forgetting is the beginning of bondage. Slowly, the vastness of consciousness is reduced to a small psychological identity, pulled by every passing mood.

The realized being also experiences life. Thoughts arise, emotions arise. But there is remembrance of the source. He knows every movement rises from the same Spanda, and so they do not bind. One is drowning in the waves. The other knows he is the ocean itself. Bondage is not in the world. It is forgetfulness of your own nature, and liberation begins the moment remembrance returns.

This is Spanda Karika Verse 20.
