Meet the Artist: Lea McComas (Thread Painting)

Lea McComas started quilting when she was a teenager with very traditional styles and hand piecing. She created her first self-designed quilt in the 1980s and was inspired to start art quilting in the 1990s while her husband was going to art school and Lea met some art quilters for the first time. She now specializes in thread-painted portraits, about which she wrote a book in 2014, available from her website, www.LeaMcComas.com.
