How to make hand sanitizer

KING 5’s Jessica Janner Castro and Joyce Taylor show you how you can make hand sanitizer at home.

Here’s their recipe:
- 1 cup rubbing alcohol (use 60% or higher isopropyl alcohol)
- 1/4 to 3/8ths cup aloe
- 1/8 cup glycerin
- A few drops of essential oils (we chose lavender & tea tree oil)

You basically want 2 parts alcohol to 1 part aloe/glycerin mix. We added glycerin for some extra moisturize but you can just use aloe if it’s easier. Add essential oils for a great scent!

We made a large batch (so keep that in mind).

We wanted to give it a shot, but we also wanted to make a little gift for our field reporters. It’s really hard to find rubbing alcohol and other disinfectants... but it seems NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE to find hand sanitizer these days... and our crews need it!
