Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 | Full Game Walkthrough | No Commentary

RPG lovers have been eating really good in April and today we archive the highly anticipated game Clair Obscur Expedition 33. For some it came as a surprise, but I had this game on my radar ever since the first reveal trailer was shown. It promised gameplay like a JRPG with beautiful visuals and a great story by a French development team.
We play as Gustave and live in a city that has been devastated over the years due to a mysterious calamity. Every year a giantess by the name of The Paintress paints a number on a monolith and all the people who are that number's age dissapear from the world. That is why every year expeditions are sent to destroy The Paintress, but none have ever returned. For 67 years the expeditions have not been succeeded in stopping her and we have now arrived at Expedition 33.
The game's presentation is absolutely next level. The visuals are amazing, but what really steals the show is the music. From the moment you boot up the game you are greeted with some of the most impressive orchestral tracks that I have ever heard in a videogame.
The story is also amazing with plenty of shocking twists and turns and it was the main motivator for me to keep playing. The combat itself is dynamic as you have to learn the patterns of enemies in order to block, avoid and parry on time.
The story does linger a bit in the middle of the game and I did run into an issue I have with other turn based RPGs in that the regular battles become a bit repetitive. But as I said it's the story, the characters and the overal atmosphere that is the real star and motivation to keep playing and I was happy to see that they stuck both the beginning and the landing so well with an ending that still has me thinking about it days after.
