Singapore's Covid Response (Reflections by an American)

We recently moved back to Singapore after a year in America.

Observing how the Singapore government is responding to Covid (in contrast to America), I thought I'd share my honest reflections as an American, also share about my Singapore quarantine and swab test.

This video is not political (I am not paid by Singapore), nor does not aim to express Singapore government as perfect (no government's response has been "perfect"), nor does it cover Singapore's Covid response comprehensively at all (please watch the news or read articles for that).

This is just a personal reflection on a *few outstanding aspects* of Singapore's response that I find may be educational and inspirational, particularly to Americans.

I deeply care for America, thus hope to inspire my fellow Americans to wear masks and take Covid seriously till the end. xx

You might wonder how Singapore has only 27 Covid deaths in the entire country.

You might say Singapore and Taiwan are much smaller countries with a lot less people. Very true.

But if you calculate the # of deaths divided by the *entire country's population*, it's still 100 times less in Singapore and 1,667 times less in Taiwan.

US..... 161K deaths - 1 / 2,037 people died of Covid

Singapore.... 27 deaths - 1 / 207,407 people died of Covid (100 times less!)

Taiwan.... 7 deaths - 1 / 3,397,142 (1,667 times less!)

I suggest these lower death rates have to do with *wise preventative measures* like wearing masks and social distance measures, which are promoted/enforced by the respective governments early on and continually enforced till the end. Also instilling the *proper knowledge* in citizens that Covid is real and deadly to begin with.

Even if we have the best doctors in the US, if infection cases exceed what our hospitals can handle and thus Covid patients cannot get proper treatment, Americans will continue die. So *prevention before infection* is still the key.
