Is Taiwan still a part of China? | VPRO World Stories
It is more than seventy years ago that the current People's Republic of China was established and the Communists expelled the nationalists to Taiwan. Is Taiwan still a part of China?
In the final episode, Ruben therefore travels from mainland China to Taiwan in search of stories from people in both countries who have experienced this charged history. Why do the Chinese think that Taiwan belongs to China today? What do the Taiwanese want their future to look like? Are they afraid that their lives will change drastically?
In Chinese dreams, documentary maker and China expert Ruben Terlou travel further through China, driven by his fascination for the Chinese and with the rapidly changing society as a compass.
