Apart from being correct or not, standards should also be well defined and easy to implement. Check and improve the sustainability of your standards. There are 5 questions to ask about any standard: about the definition, ease of setting, stability, ease of checking and ease of correcting (the specific questions and answers vary a bit for Machine, Material, Method and Man standards), which will give you a good comparison of how easy it will be to use this standard in daily operation.

You can use these questions to check current standards for stability, and it sure is best practice to use these questions every time you introduce or update a standard.
