EP 65 - The Capacitive Dropper

The capacitive dropper is a simple but useful circuit for converting an AC power input into a low-current DC power output using minimal components. Although it is not an isolated circuit, and thus is not suitable for user-accessible electronics, it can find numerous uses in powering microcontrollers and other low-power insulated devices directly from AC mains power.

Do not try anything you see in this video at home unless you are experienced with high voltage work. This circuit is to be used in enclosed, fully-insulated applications only.

Thanks for watching!
