HOW TO FIT GAS STRUTS TO A 1974 SUNWAGON POP TOP CAMPERVAN

This is a quick video on how I fitted gas struts to my 1974 Sunwagon made in Bendigo by Country Campers which was a Division of Siddons PTY LTD, ( Siddons also made Sidchrome Tools). I have fitted 600mm x 600n or 60 kg struts but I will be adding a roof rack with about 80kg on top. If you just want to have the struts to give assistance to setting up (without added weight on your roof) 300n or 30kg should do the job, I would recommend doing some research on gas struts before you choose struts. The strut mounts on the verticals are riveted on with 5mm steel rivets, there is a big spring inside the pipe so bolts or screws or even welding could damage or impede the spring. This style of camper with the full length supports can be very difficult to set up without struts especially on your own. These gas struts were about $54 on eBay for 4 and there is only maybe $20 worth of steel and a bit of simple welding, grinding and drilling to do. Happy to help with any advice or questions. Thanks for watching.
