Tense police chase with man armed with knife ends in arrest

Dramatic bodycam footage has revealed the moment a man 'threatened to stab' a Greater Manchester Police officer after he was chased down on foot in Wythenshawe on Thursday (April 11).

The suspect, who was wanted by police after a delivery driver reported that his car had been stolen in Stockport, was seen by a member of the public altering registration plates on a car that matched the same description.

Officers from the Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit were deployed to the area and spotted the stolen vehicle driving along Shadowmoss Road. The driver failed to stop and a chase ensued.

During the foot chase it's believed that the suspect threatened to assault the officer before he was eventually detained.

A 41-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of threats to kill a police officer, possession of a bladed article, theft of motor vehicle, dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, and failing to stop for police.
