The hamburger, when it comes to food you can’t get anymore American than that, enjoyed by millions everyday. But there has only been one burger in history that has amassed this much recognition across the globe.
The Big Mac, 7.6 oz of pure American ingenuity. The Golden Arches needed something to compete with the Whopper. Created in 1967 by franchise owner Jim Delligatti. The Big Mac originally cost 45 cents. Thats $3.44 to todays standards.
Delligatti received no royalty payments for his creation of this Iconic Burger, passing it along to Ronald at not cost.
The Big Mac has primarily stayed the same over the last 50 years. 3 buns, 2 patties, special sauce, lettuce, pickles and onions.
Over 550 million Big Macs are sold In America each, making it one of the most profitable food items on the menu, only second to their fries.
There are even super fans to this iconic menu Item. Donald Gorske has eaten over 30,000 Big Mac over his lifetime. Eating two every day, He even freezes a few for emergencies, just in case the store is closed.
