Vikings, volcanos and scary-looking names of those volcanoes - might be the first things that come to mind when talking about this country. A country, where brothers and sisters have different surnames, where naming your child requires government approval, and where locals casually read thousand-year-old texts as easily as we read yesterday's news. Icelandic language is small, with only 330,000 native speakers and some predicted its death since 1813. But here we are, in 2025, and Icelandic is very much alive.
