DESCRIPTION:

Do you know the difference between Moustache and Mustache? Is there one?

This conversation came up at the Live Bearded office so we thought we'd share it with you guys.

Technically speaking, moustache and mustache are two different spellings of the same word to describe the hair on your upper lip.
Moustache comes from the UK where British English is a bit more proper and they put an "o" in it.

In the US the term mustache is much more common.

Ultimately they both are the same so feel free to toss out moustache from time to time as you'll feel like mixing it up throw it out there and see how it feels!

In the UK they also like to refer to a mustache as mustachio, which instantly makes you feel a little more suave.

AND, if your mustache is really impressive, they refer to it in the plural form, Mustachios!!! I personally appreciate it.

Now when it comes to having a mustache, you really need to know how to style and trim it to keep it looking good, and to make eating and drinking manageable.

The first thing you'll realize is that you need mustache wax at all times. There is nothing worse than having a glorious mustache and not having mustache wax nearby.

If you are going for a handlebar mustache, apply from the middle and work your way to the ends. As you do, roll your finger and your thumb as if you're snapping to train the hairs to grow out and up.

After you style, there are 3 areas you need to trim to really style your mustache nicely.

The area at your upper lip: this area is what makes it extremely difficult to eat and drink so I personally trim it down a bit to get some clearance.

Take your beard trimmers or scissors and trim a straight line across your mouth to the length you desire. I recommend keeping this trim to the width of your nose or so as you don't want to go too wide. The hairs towards the outside of your mustache will need to be longer to give you a nice shape.

The ends: The ends need to be even, so take your scissors and do your best to even them out. Don't go back and forth too many times or you'll end up with a very short stache.

The separation: This may be the most important trim area. You want to trim the beard hairs under your mustache shorter so your mustache is separated from your beard and really stands out! You can do this with a beard trimmer or scissors.
