John Wainwright (1723-1768) composed YORKSHIRE for the text "Christian's awake, salute the happy morn", by John Byrom in 1750.
The tune was first sung on Christmas Day, 1750, in the parish church of Stockport.
Played on a reed organ (pump organ) made by the Doherty Organ Co. in Clinton, Ontario Canada. This model is one of the larger models that the sold, called the "Victorian" model.
