Two Islands (Project Preview): Megijima, Japan and Gigha, Scotland
In 2013, social/ecological artists Patrick M. Lydon and Flavia Salvador began a project 5,773 miles apart from each other; on the islands of Megijima in Japan and Gigha in Scotland, respectively.
Here, as embedded artist/researchers, the two explored ideas of community, identity, and connection to nature with the local populations.
This film presents excepts from their audio/visual installation work, bringing these two 'island studies' together as a narration within two communities, and across their borders.
This project was made possible with production support from:
Aichi University of the Arts (Japan)
CORE Research Group at Edinburgh College of Art (UK)
Daniel Thornton
Setouchi International Triennale
