KTX - Korea Train eXpress:
KTX services from the year 2004.
KTX Trains are the High speed Trains.
Top speed for trains in regular service is currently 305 kilometre per hour, Though the infrastructure is designed for 350 kilometre per hour.
The next generation KTX train, achieved 421.4 kilometre per hour in 2013, making South Korea the world's fourth country after Japan, France and China to develop a high-speed train running on conventional rail above 420 kilometre per hour.
Types of Seats: KTX offers two classes. First Class and Standard Class.
ITX- Intercity Train eXpress:
it was introduced in 2014. The new ITX-Saemaeul trains have a faster average speed of 150 kilometers per hour.
Mugunghwa-ho:
In 1980, new express train was introduced. Soon it was renamed as Mugunghwa-ho.
Mugunghwa are built to accommodate large numbers of standing passengers, and frequently have many more standees than sitting passengers.
Mugunghwa-ho is the cheapest class of trains in operation and they are the only trains that stop at many stations where KTX & Saemaeul trains do not serve.
Saemaeul-ho:
Before KTX trains were launched, Saemaeul-ho was the fastest class of trains in South Korea.
The Saemaeul train makes more stops than KTX and ITX.
The length of a Saemaeul train varies from 5 cars to 12 cars.
These are the major types of train in South Korea.
