Surah Nazi'at
In God’s Name, whose Mercy is Great and Continuous:
(79:1) I swear by the angels who rip out the souls of those who reject,
(79:2) and by the angels who gently pull out the souls of those who submit,
(79:3) and by the angels who swim through the sky,
(79:4) racing each other
(79:5) to fulfill My commands, that I will bring you back for judgment.
(79:6) On that day, everything will be shaken and destroyed with the first blow of the horn.
(79:7) Then with the second blow everyone will return.
(79:8) On the Day of Resurrection, hearts will be trembling,
(79:9) and eyes will be looking down in humiliation.
(79:10) Today they say, “Will we really be brought back to life
(79:11) after we are crumbled bones?
(79:12) That is impossible and will not happen.”
(79:13) All it takes is one blow from the horn,
(79:14) and they will be back on their feet standing.
(79:15) You are not the first to reject my warning. Didn’t you hear the story of Moses?
(79:16) In the sacred valley named Tuwa, I addressed him calling:
(79:17) Go to Pharaoh. He is oppressive and sinning.
(79:18) Tell him, don’t you want to purify yourself?
(79:19) I will teach you about your Lord, and then the fear of God will enter your heart.
(79:20) Then Moses showed him major miracles as proof he was right.
(79:21) Then Pharaoh said Moses was a liar and refused to submit.
(79:22) Then he turned away and hurried to work against Me.
(79:23) So he gathered his people together and called to them
(79:24) saying, “I am your lord the most high. There is no other god above me.”
(79:25) So I punished him in this world and the next severely.
(79:26) In this story is a lesson for those who fear disobeying Me.
(79:27) Do you think you are more difficult to put back together than My building of your atmosphere?
(79:28) I raised it up and made it balanced and clear.
(79:29) And I made the night sky dark and the morning bright and radiant.
(79:30) Then I smoothed out the earth
(79:31) with the water cycle, creating grazing lands
(79:32) and firm mountains,
(79:33) so that you and your animals would have what you need for nourishment.
(79:34) When the terrible day arrives,
(79:35) you will realize what you spent your life doing.
(79:36) Hell will be revealed, everyone will be watching.
(79:37) Those who reject this warning,
(79:38) and choose a worldly life of sin instead of obeying,
(79:39) to the fire, they will be going.
(79:40) And those who choose to live their lives afraid of the day they will stand in front of Me and overcome temptation,
(79:41) will go to Heaven.
(79:42) You might be asked when the Day of Judgment is coming.
(79:43) You have no idea when it will happen.
(79:44) Only I know everything.
(79:45) Your job is only to deliver this warning, and the warning will only benefit those who are afraid of disobeying.
(79:46) Tell them when the Day of Judgment comes, it will feel like their entire life lasted a day or less compared to the eternal afterlife.
